MANNO ENDORSED BY THE INTERNATIONAL ALLIANCE OF THEATRICAL STATE EMPLOYEES LOCAL 22
Montgomery County, MD – Today, Maryland congressional candidate (MD-6) and State Senator Roger Manno announced the rare early endorsements of the International Alliance of Theatrical State Employees (I.A.T.S.E. Local 22).
Founded in 1894, I.A.T.S.E. Local 22 represents workers in more than a dozen venues throughout the area, in addition to contracts for hotel conventions, live television shoots, rigging jobs in places like the Smithsonian museums or outdoors on the Mall, concerts in stadiums and arenas, and major events like the presidential inaugurations.
“[The] overwhelming consensus of our Members is that you have been, and continue to be, an unwavering champion of Maryland’s workers.” stated Business Agent John Brasseux. “Considering your stellar record, we enthusiastically support your candidacy for the U.S. House of Representatives.”
“I’m very proud to receive the endorsement from IATSE, and to stand with these workers who are so integrally involved in the arts and public venues throughout the region,” stated Manno. “Our campaign is about good jobs, fairness, and an economy that works for everyone. And that’s what I’ve done throughout my career — from my legislation making the Maryland tax code fairer and more progressive, to strong opposition to the “Estate Tax Cut” for the wealthiest 0.2%, to landmark legislation that guarantees paid rest breaks for retail workers throughout Maryland. Now more than ever, it’s crucial to have a representative in the 6th Congressional District with real experience getting results for working families. That’s why I’m running, and why this endorsement means so much.
