Manno Endorsed by International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 26

Montgomery County, MD – Today Maryland congressional candidate (MD-6) and State Senator Roger Manno announced the official endorsement of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 26.

Since 1892, the year IBEW Local 26 got its charter, Local 26 has been at the forefront of some of America’s major construction projects, including the Pentagon, the White House, the World War II Memorial, Nationals Stadium, National Harbor, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and the Metro system.

“Roger Manno’s politics demonstrate an allegiance to strong working-class values and a world view of the economy that values the contributions of Maryland’s premiere workforce,” said Business Manager George Hogan. “Good, safe jobs is a priority and Roger Manno will be a tireless advocate in Washington to help bring major projects to our jurisdiction.”

An honorary member of IBEW Local 26, Manno’s record on Building Trades issues is well known throughout Maryland and the larger construction trades movement. His relentless campaign to protect, strengthen, and expand prevailing wages, prevent workplace fraud and wage theft, his work advancing skills training through his landmark Apprenticeship Opportunities Act, and his tireless efforts advancing numerous large-scale projects under Project Labor Agreements throughout the region have all demonstrated his steadfast commitment to the working people of Maryland.

“I’m honored to represent the thousands of highly-skilled workers of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 26, and to receive this rare early endorsement in my campaign for Congress,” stated Manno. “Marylanders know that real economic opportunity begins with good jobs, benefits, and the dignity of work that empowers people to excel, and propels families and communities forward. That’s what the labor movement is all about. It’s what America is all about, and it’s why I fight so hard. Let’s get to work.”
