Silver Spring, MD - This morning Senator Roger Manno joined faith leaders, community members, and other elected officials at the Greater Olney Interfaith Ministerium 9/11 Memorial Service. Senator Manno gave remarks on behalf the State, while County Executive Ike Leggett and councilmembers George Leventhal and Hans Reimer gave remarks on behalf of the County. The following is an excerpt from Roger's remarks:

"To those of us who survive and bear witness, there are so many ways to remember, mourn and honor the victims, and to bring meaning and clarity to their lives and loss. None better than with and through the acts and deeds of our own lives – the living, breathing memorial of 9/11, and the empowerment and transcendence of that loss. So, if you believe, as the great warrior poet Paul McCartney once said, that ‘in the end the love you take is equal to the love you make’ -- let us begin that work – to teach the lessons of war, violence, and intolerance – to build strong families, communities and institutions – and to leave this world and this county a palace for all of our children. May peace be unto you, the victims, and their families"
